SCHLUMBERGER transformed a large specific load testing into an opportunity to really increase his commitment in the quality of service of his applications before they are put in production.

Project description

From this experience the idea rises to implement a transverse center able to offer to the various IT projects competences and tools to carry out effective and relevant benchmarks (Schlumberger acquired the tools suite of the editor Compuware©).
A first project of load testing on a very large scale (with 2 iterations necessary) allows the IT management to engage on a parameter setting of the ERP guaranteeing the level of awaited service.
The collaboration between MetaWare and Schlumberger begins in 2001. MetaWare assists Schlumberger then to measure the capacity of the American ERP Lawson to support an international use on a large scale.

More than 50.000 employees in 100 countries and more than 140 nationalities, More than 400 applications managed by the IT management of Schlumberger, 3 projects tested within the Performance Center in 2004, 10 in 2005 and today more than 15 major projects implement formal benchmark campaigns.	Schlumberger has today a very efficient system around the load testing which is used by project managers and clients of the campaign. The “Performance Center” offers to Schlumberger an accurate visibility and a capacity to target the key developments allowing strong engagements in term of the quality of service. With its management “one-demand” the Performance Center is very flexible. It allows Schlumberger to save dedicated ressources who would have been affected full-time even if the activity is fluctuating related to the expiries project.
Solutions
MetaWare implemented a transverse center in charge of test campaigns for the account about fifteen major projects in the year, sometimes for several projects simultaneously. The processes have been made reusable in this center then named “Performance Center” which is today the checkpoint before each crucial puttings into production.
